Skin sheds constantly, but the process slows with age — dead cells linger on the surface, dulling your complexion and blocking whatever you apply on top. Add fine vellus hair, and you get texture that traps foundation and reflects light unevenly.
Dermaplaning addresses both in one pass. A sterile surgical blade is drawn across the skin at a precise angle, lifting away the dead layer and the fine hair with it — no chemicals, no heat, and nothing that needs time to work.
Our Treatment:
Instantly Smoother Skin: Removes the built-up dead layer that makes skin look dull and feel rough.
Removes Peach Fuzz: Eliminates fine vellus hair so light reflects evenly and makeup sits flat.
Improves Product Absorption: Serums penetrate far better without a dead layer blocking them.
Skin is thoroughly cleansed and dried — the blade only works on completely dry skin, so this step matters more than it sounds.
The Treatment
A 45-minute session. The blade is drawn across the skin in short, controlled strokes. Most clients describe it as a light scraping sensation — there's no pain and no numbing needed.
The Results
Skin feels smooth immediately. Mild redness settles within an hour or two, and results last around four weeks as skin regenerates.
A dermaplaning facial at Geneva Med Spa is $200 for a 45-minute treatment. Most clients repeat it every four weeks, timed to the skin’s natural renewal cycle.

Everything you’re wondering about dermaplaning, answered.
Will my hair grow back thicker or darker?
No. This is the most common concern and it’s a myth. Vellus hair grows back at the same rate, thickness, and colour — the blunt cut edge can feel slightly coarser for a day or two, but nothing about the hair itself changes.
Does it hurt?
No. Most clients describe a light scraping or tickling sensation. No numbing is needed and there’s nothing to recover from.
How often should I have it done?
Around every four weeks, which matches the skin’s natural cell turnover cycle. Doing it more frequently doesn’t improve results.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Usually yes — it’s often better tolerated than chemical exfoliation because there’s no acid or heat involved. We’ll assess your skin first, and avoid treatment over active breakouts, rosacea flares, or open lesions.
Can I combine it with another treatment?
Yes. Dermaplaning pairs well before a facial or peel, since removing the dead layer allows the following treatment to work more effectively. We’ll sequence it appropriately.
What is the aftercare?
Use sunscreen daily — freshly exfoliated skin is more sun-sensitive. Skip retinol, acids, and harsh scrubs for two to three days, and avoid saunas or heavy sweating for 24 hours.
