Why Treating Part of the Skin Beats Treating All of It
Older resurfacing lasers removed the entire surface layer. The results were significant, but so was the recovery — weeks of raw, healing skin, and real risk on anything but the palest complexions.
Fractional technology changed the calculation. Instead of treating the whole surface, thousands of microscopic laser columns are placed across the skin, leaving healthy tissue in between. Those untouched areas drive rapid healing, so you get deep renewal with days of recovery rather than weeks.
Our Treatment:
Smooths Texture and Scarring: Resurfaces rough skin, acne scarring, and surgical scars at depth.
Softens Fine Lines: Stimulates collagen across the treated area, including delicate skin around the eyes.
Evens Tone: Improves sun damage, pigmentation, and overall clarity in the same pass.
Fractional laser resurfacing is likely a great fit if you:
Have acne scarring or rough, uneven texture across the face
Notice fine lines and crepiness, particularly around the eyes and mouth
Have sun damage and pigmentation alongside texture concerns
Want meaningful resurfacing but can’t take weeks off to recover
Can commit to a few days of visible healing and strict sun protection afterwards
(Deeper skin tones carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation with resurfacing lasers. We assess this in person and will recommend a safer alternative if needed.)
We assess your skin type, tone, and concerns, then set depth and density accordingly. Some skin types benefit from priming beforehand, and we'll advise if that applies.
The Treatment
A 30–45 minute session after numbing cream is applied for 45 minutes. You'll feel heat and prickling as the handpiece passes — a cooling system runs throughout.
The Recovery
Expect redness and swelling like moderate sunburn for two to three days, then a sandpaper texture as skin sheds through days three to five. Makeup after 48 hours.
Full-face fractional resurfacing at Geneva Med Spa is $1,000 per session, with neck-only treatment at $600. Most clients treating scarring or accumulated sun damage see the best results from a series of three, spaced four to six weeks apart.

Everything you’re wondering about fractional laser resurfacing, answered.
How much downtime is there really?
Two to three days of redness and swelling similar to moderate sunburn, then a rough, sandpaper texture as the skin sheds through days three to five. Most clients plan a long weekend around it and wear makeup from 48 hours.
Does it hurt?
Numbing cream is applied for 45 minutes beforehand and a cooling system runs during treatment. Most clients describe heat and prickling that’s manageable, with the forehead and upper lip more sensitive.
How many sessions do I need?
Most clients need three, spaced four to six weeks apart. Deeper acne scarring may need more, and we’ll reassess your response after each session.
Is it safe for darker skin tones?
Resurfacing lasers carry a real risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation on deeper phototypes. This is assessed in person, and if it isn’t the right fit we’ll recommend an alternative such as RF microneedling, which is far safer on darker skin.
How is this different from CO2 resurfacing?
Both are fractional, but CO2 works more aggressively at greater depth — more result in one session, more downtime to match. Fraxel is the gentler route, building across a series with far less recovery.
Will my lips look too dark or unnatural at first?
Right after your session lips look bolder and more saturated than the final result — this is normal. Color softens by 40–50% as they heal over 7–10 days, settling into the natural tint chosen during your consultation.
