The Consultation & Screening

We assess the ink colours, density, age, and location of your tattoo, review your skin type, and set realistic expectations for how many sessions it will take. A medical screening is completed before your first treatment.

The Treatment

Sessions are short — often under 30 minutes, depending on size. Each pulse feels like a sharp snap, similar to hot oil flicking the skin. Cooling is used throughout, and numbing is available.

The Healing

Expect redness, swelling, and sometimes blistering for several days, followed by scabbing. Sessions are spaced six to eight weeks apart to let your body clear the fragmented ink between treatments.

Sessions at Geneva Med Spa start at $200, based on the size of the tattoo. A one-time $49 medical screening fee applies before your first treatment. Because the number of sessions depends on ink colour, density, and age, we’ll estimate your full course at consultation.

How many sessions will it take?

Typically eight to twelve for full removal, though it varies considerably. Older, faded, black-ink tattoos on the upper body clear fastest; dense, colourful, or recently applied work on the extremities takes longer. Fading for a cover-up usually takes three to five.

Does it hurt?

More than getting the tattoo, most clients say — each pulse feels like a sharp snap or hot oil flick. Sessions are short, cooling is used throughout, and numbing cream is available if you’d prefer.

Will it remove the tattoo completely?

Often, but not always. Black and dark blue respond best; green, light blue, and yellow are notoriously resistant, and some cosmetic or white pigments can react unpredictably. We’ll be honest about what’s realistic for your specific tattoo before you commit.

Why do I have to wait between sessions?

Your body needs time to clear the fragmented ink through the lymphatic system. Treating too soon doesn’t speed removal — it just increases the risk to your skin. Six to eight weeks between sessions is what gets the best result.

Will it leave a scar?

Correct settings and good aftercare make scarring uncommon. The main risk factor is picking at scabs or blisters during healing, which is why aftercare instructions matter here more than with most treatments.

What is the aftercare?

Keep the area clean, covered, and moisturised while healing. Do not pick blisters or scabs. Avoid sun exposure entirely on the treated area, and skip swimming, saunas, and heavy exercise for a few days after each session.
