IPL PHOTOFACIAL · INTENSE PULSED LIGHT

Redness, Flushing, or Sun Spots That Makeup Has to Hide?

IPL Photofacial in Frisco, TX

Targets what makes skin look uneven — visible redness, broken capillaries, and brown sun damage — in a session short enough to fit a lunch break.

Why Redness and Brown Spots Need Light, Not Exfoliation

Exfoliating won’t touch a broken capillary or a sun spot, because neither sits in the layer you’re sanding off. Redness comes from dilated vessels beneath the surface; brown spots come from pigment clustered deeper in the skin. Scrubs and peels work above both.

Intense pulsed light works differently. Rather than a single laser wavelength, it releases a broad spectrum of light that is absorbed specifically by red and brown targets — heating and collapsing them while leaving surrounding skin untouched. Your body then clears the debris naturally.

Our Treatment:

  • Calms Redness and Rosacea: Collapses dilated vessels and broken capillaries that cause visible flushing.
  • Fades Sun Damage: Breaks up brown spots, freckling, and pigment from years of sun exposure.
  • Evens Overall Tone: Treats both red and brown concerns in the same pass, so skin reads clearer.

WHO IS THIS FOR

Is IPL Photofacial Right for You?

IPL is likely a great fit if you:

  • Have rosacea, persistent facial redness, or flushing across the cheeks and nose
  • Notice broken capillaries or visible small vessels
  • Have sun spots, freckling, or melasma from years of Texas sun
  • Want to treat both redness and brown pigment in one treatment
  • Need results with essentially no downtime

(IPL isn’t suitable for deeper skin tones — the light targets pigment, which creates real risk of burns or pigmentation change. We assess this in person and have safer alternatives if needed.)

COMPARISON

IPL vs. Fractional Laser Resurfacing

Both improve how skin looks, but they target different problems:

  • Colour vs. Texture: IPL treats red and brown discolouration. Fractional resurfacing treats texture, scarring, and lines.
  • Downtime: IPL leaves the skin surface intact — no peeling, back to normal immediately. Resurfacing means days of visible healing.
  • Often Sequenced: Clients with both concerns typically clear tone with IPL first, then address texture separately.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your IPL Photofacial Journey

Quick, Comfortable, and Cumulative

The Consultation & Settings

We assess your skin tone, the balance of redness versus brown pigment, and set the filters and energy accordingly. Photos are taken so progress is measurable across sessions.

The Treatment

A 30–45 minute session. Cool gel is applied, then pulses pass across the skin — most clients describe a brief snap, like a light rubber band flick, with cooling throughout.

The Results

Mild flushing settles within a few hours. Brown spots darken before flaking away over a week; redness fades progressively across a series of sessions.

IPL Photofacial Pricing in Frisco

IPL at Geneva Med Spa is $550 per session, with a course of three at $1,500. Most clients treating rosacea or accumulated sun damage need a series spaced four weeks apart, then maintain with one session a year.

FAQ

Everything you’re wondering about intense pulsed light treatment, answered.
Does IPL help rosacea?
Yes — it’s one of the most effective treatments for the visible redness and flushing of rosacea. IPL collapses the dilated vessels causing the redness, though it manages rather than cures the condition, so periodic maintenance is needed.
Most clients need three to five, spaced about four weeks apart. Rosacea and long-accumulated sun damage generally need more sessions than isolated spots.
Most clients describe each pulse as a brief snap, similar to a light rubber band flick. Cool gel and a cooling system make it comfortable, and no numbing is usually required.
Essentially none. Expect mild flushing for a few hours. Brown spots will darken before flaking away over the following week — this is a normal part of how the treatment works.
No — this is important. IPL targets pigment, so on deeper phototypes it carries genuine risk of burns and pigmentation change. We assess your skin in person and will recommend a safer alternative if IPL isn’t appropriate.
Sunscreen daily without exception — sun exposure after IPL risks pigmentation. Let darkened spots shed naturally without picking, and avoid retinol, acids, and heat for a week.
